Cloudy Day Club – here’s what you can expect

We’re shipping two Pinot Noirs in the first allocation of 2016.

Members of the Cloudy Day Club – our wine club that receives our Pinot Noirs three times a year – can look forward to two different Pinots in this package.

We’re sending the Fleuvage – our anyday, medium-bodied PN that works wondrously with light pasta dishes, poached wild salmon or crumbled goat cheese on toast.

We’re also sending some RED SKY rosé because – SPRING! The 100% Pinot Noir, made in the saignée method, is our go-to casual wine all year. But it’s especially welcome during the warm months when it makes a great partner with lighter foods served at room temperature or cooler. It’s a picnic in a glass.

The wines will be shipped in a 2 to 1 ratio.  If you’re a Straight Six member, for example, you’ll get four Fleuvage and two RED SKY.  There’s still time to add to your order.  Cloudy Day Club members should contact us to put more wine in your shipment.

Not a Cloudy Day Club member? Just head to our website to subscribe.  It’s better than ever to be a member because we’ve just made shipping FREE.

There’s still time to join.  There’s about 13 days left before cut-off on the day this was posted.

Now available! The 2013 Cumulus Nimbus…

IMG_20150603_095324

After a long wait, we’re releasing this special edition Cumulus Nimbus. This is a single-barrel, handcrafted Pinot Noir from the 2013 vintage.  The fruit was chosen cluster by cluster from our source vineyards on the Naramata Bench and fermented in a small, segregated batch. Aged for 14 mos in French oak and further bottle conditioned until its early release to Cloudy Club members a few weeks ago, this Pinot Noir is the epitome of our wine making goals and sets our performance bar a few notches higher.

We reserve the Cumulus Nimbus name for vintages of exceptional conditions. 2013 was the first vintage since we began Black Cloud in 2008 that we felt confident in making such a declaration.

Each bottle is numbered and personally signed by the winemaker and only 275 were produced. Best way to obtain is to head over to our Cloudy Day Club site and hit the ‘store’ tab. We ship anywhere in Canada.

Spring Release Tasting Event in Penticton

We’re bringing out all our new releases for a private tasting on May 2 and you’re invited.

  • 2011 Altostratus
  • 2012 Fleuvage
  • 2013 RED SKY rosé

In addition, we’ll crack a few older vintages to check how they are evolving and enjoy some delicious food.  There’s an opportunity to win some great prizes as well.

There’s no charge for this event and we encourage you to bring a friend. Everyone in attendance will qualify for a 20% discount on their purchases.

Please RSVP on our Facebook event page linked here.

Spring is here! Here’s the tasting events calendar…

We’re heading to Vancouver and the Lower Mainland of BC over the next couple weeks to debut our new RED SKY release.  The 2013 RED SKY rosé is the big news – a fresh and lively addition to your patio or festive table and, of course, 100% Pinot Noir.  We’ll also have our  Altostratus and Fleuvage on hand and you will have an opportunity to taste these 2010 vintages  just to see how each evolves in the bottle and to explore the vintage characteristics.IMG_20140226_174534

NEW YEAR? New Representation for Black Cloud

The rapid growth for BC winery Black Cloud is cause for celebration in this new year – and the reason for the announcement of a new partnership with Mondiale Fine Beverage Ltd., a Vancouver-based wine agency.

Black Cloud has attracted a strong following since its introduction in 2008. Up until now, the winery owners have been doing most of the distribution with the help of some independent sales people.
“We love being in the community and interacting with our customers and sales partners but there’s only two of us – to be effective in the marketplace we’ve opted to join forces with the experts at Mondiale,” said Audralee Daum, Black Cloud owner and chief financial officer, “Paul Jordan and his team have proven capabilities in wine sales and they ‘get’ what we’re doing as we reach for excellence in each vintage.”
Created in 2008 by winemaker Bradley Cooper and his partner Ms. Daum, and based in the Okanagan, Black Cloud makes Pinot Noir exclusively in several value tiers. Distinct vineyard-designate vintage bottlings are their hallmark.
Mondiale Beverage Imports is the brainchild of industry veteran Paul Jordan.  He’s joined by Frank Gregus and Tamara San Martin.
Mondiale Fine Beverage Ltd will be responsible for all accounts in the Vancouver – Whistler – Lower Mainland area. Black Cloud will continue to personally serve the Okanagan and BC interior regions. Representation on Vancouver Island and the Islands is maintained by Quench! Wines (Rayna Corner)
Interested parties are urged to contact Paul and his Mondiale associates at:

The Holiday package is heading out soon!

We’re getting the holiday packages ready for the Cloudy Club members. Looks like we’ll start rolling them out during the last week of November so look for them arriving at your address no matter where you are in Canada in the first week of December. What’s inside? Depending on your package option, you’ll be getting a mix of RED SKY rosé and 2008 Anniversary Edition Altostratus. The RED SKY is perfect for holiday feasting, especially when there’s a dozen or more things on the table and just as many palates to please. We’re also very pleased to include some 2008 Altostratus we have been holding back especially for our club members.  If you’d like additional bottles of this wine, we will be making it available at a special price for Cloudy club members.  Stay tuned for details. Image
